Zambian Center for Poverty Reduction and Research (ZCPRR)

Our Core Business is Poverty Reduction and Scientific Research. ZCPRR A Reliable Partner in Poverty Reduction and Scientific Research.

About Us

Zambian Center for Poverty Reduction and Research (ZCPRR) is a Zambian-based Non Governmental Organization (NGO) formed to help in reducing poverty across various categories of the most poverty stricken people in both rural and urban Zambia. This is being done by consistently searching for new innovative approaches to poverty reduction through scientific research informed by local ways of knowing and doing, service delivery, and providing relevant education to the poor people, and sharing relevant knowledge with other development actors as the Government of Zambia, Political Parties, Academic Institutions, Civil Society Organizations, and International Donor Community among others   on how to reduce poverty in rural and urban Zambia.

CORE VALUES AND PRINCIPLES THAT GUIDE OUR WORK

Our work is guided by the following values and principles:

Humanistic

We value every poor person in Zambia regardless of their gender, status, ethnicity, age and political inclination

Selflessness

Sacrifice for a poor person when you have the chance to do so

Just society:

We need to have a just Zambia where all children, youths, adult and older women and men living in poverty should be helped to come out of poverty

Leave No One Behind (LNOB)

We believe that No One in Zambia should be left behind in poverty reduction and research. LNOB is the central, transformative promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It calls for commitment of every well-meaning development partner to eradicate poverty in all its forms, end discrimination and exclusion, and reduce the inequalities and vulnerabilities that leave people behind and undermine the potential of individuals and of humanity as a whole (UN, 2015)

‘Local ways of knowing and doing’ scientific research

The poor people, and people on the local grounds can help in finding innovative approaches to poverty reduction in rural and urban Zambia. This is because they know their local environments better. Thus, we value listening to the voices of the poor people themselves and those who are closer to them on how poverty should be reduced in Zambia, and taking their voices to those with abilities to help poor people come out of poverty.
