Assistance for Referred Patients
Department of Assistance for Referred Patients:
The aim of this department is to initiate and implement interventions aimed at reducing suffering among referred patients and their informal care givers from health institutions to referral hospitals in Zambia and outside Zambia. The main programs in this department are:
(i) Basic Necessities Support for referred patients and their informal care givers:
The aim of this program is to reduce suffering among poorest referred patients and their informal care givers by providing them with basic necessities. The services include orientation to new hospitals, provision of food, medical aid, funeral relief, repatriation, mobilizing public support through media and arrangement of international travel logistics.
(ii) Support your sick electorate program:
The aim of this program is to constantly link the poorest referred patients and their informal care givers to their area Members of Parliaments (MPs), Ward Councilors, Ministers and Republic President for any form of assistance.
(ii) Shelter Referred Patients and their informal care givers:
In Zambia most of the referral hospitals have serious challenges in providing shelter for patients and informal care givers not admitted to hospitals. This brings about a lot of sufferings among both the patients and the informal care givers. Thus, in order to reduce stress of sickness and informal care, this program is aimed at constructing shelter for poorest referred patients and their informal care givers at major referral hospitals.
(iv) Hospital Ministry:
This program is aimed at giving spiritual support to referred patients in hospitals and their informal care givers in order to reduce of stress associated with sickness and build their trust in God.
(v) Research on Referred Patients and Informal Care givers:
This program is aimed at consistently undertaking scientific research on referred patients and their informal care givers aimed at generating scientific knowledge to inform policy and practice on how to address hardships faced by referred patients and their informal care givers both within Zambia and outside Zambia.
