Department of Children’s well-being
The aim of this department is to initiate and implement interventions aimed at reducing child poverty and other injustices in rural and urban Zambia. The main programs in this department are:
(i) 24/7 Child Protection Program:
The aim of this program is to protect all categories of children in rural and urban Zambia from any form of abuse that disturb their development by constantly being on the lookout of any signs of child abuse and quickly intervening in the situations that can lead to child abuse. In order to achieve this aim, we are creating local community taskforces and helplines on child protection in every local community of rural and urban Zambia.
(ii) Strong Pre-School Education Foundation for Poor Children
The aim of this program is to build strong pre-school education foundation for poor children by constructing pre-schools (nurseries) for them in both rural and urban Zambia. This is meant to narrow down gaps that currently exist in rural and urban Zambia between children from rich families and children from poor families in accessing pre-school education. We believe that pre-school education should not be a preserve for children coming from rich families. Rather, it should be for every child whether coming from poor or rich families.
(iii) School Bullying Prevention:
The aim of this program is to eradicate school-based problem of school bullying in all schools in Zambia. This done by strengthening school mechanisms on school bullying prevention, advocating for policies, laws and programs on school bullying, sensitizing school children on school bullying and establishing free school call centers on school bullying and other forms of injustices against children.
(iv) Send Back Girl and Boy Child to School:
The aim of this program is to enable all girl and boy children who have dropped out of school for reasons that could have been avoided such as poverty, pregnancies, and early marriages to go back to school and complete their basic and secondary education.
(v) Enable Girl and Boy Child Attain College and University Education:
The aim of this program is to give different forms of support to children from poor families to attain their college and university education as a way of breaking intergenerational poverty. The support will include making application to colleges and universities on behalf of poor children, organizing financial support for them, and helping them to apply for bursaries and scholarships both within Zambia and outside Zambia.
