Department of Research and Education:

The aim of this department is to constantly engage in scientific research on poverty reduction, disseminate research findings through public dissemination workshops and conferences, media press release, scientific publications in high impact profile journals, policy briefs, book writing, undertake consultancy work and conduct trainings on various issues in which we have the competences. The main programs in this department are:

(i) Policy and Law Makers Knowledge for Poverty Reduction:

The main of this program is to regularly conduct scientific research on relevant topics to poverty reduction and timely presenting the findings of the studies to policy and law makers  such as the President of the Republic of Zambia, Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, Political Parties, Senior Government Officials, local and international donor community, Leaders of Civil Society Organizations, Leaders of Private Sector, Associations of Employers and Employees, and Traditional Leaders, among others and lobby them to take action on the findings and recommendations/policy implications of the study in order to timely reduce and/ or prevent poverty.

(ii) Taxation, poverty and development research:

Being an area which is under researched in Zambia and the whole African region (International Centre for Tax and Development (ICTD), 2021), this program is aimed at addressing this gap by regularly  undertaking scientific research and consultancy on the nexus between taxation, poverty and development in Zambia and the whole Africa region. This is meant to generate and share scientific knowledge with the Government of Zambia and other governments in Africa through their tax administrators and other tax institutions which can improve the quality of tax policy and administration so that any tax policy that is embarked on does not lead to generating human and institutional poverty, but instead lead to development of people and institutions at micro, mezzo and macro levels.

(iii) Research Guidance for PhD, Masters, Bachelors and Postgraduate Diploma students:

By adhering to all principles of science, this program is aimed at assisting PhD, Masters, Bachelors and Postgraduate Diploma students who find it difficult to understand how to go about their research projects based on comments from their academic supervisors. Thus, we invite all PhD, Masters, Bachelors and Postgraduate Diploma students to consult with us in areas where we have the academic competences.
