Department of Human Rights and Legal Assistance for the Less Privileged:
The aim of this programme is to ensure that the less privileged people in Zambia know and claim their human rights as tools for poverty reduction. It is also aimed at giving legal assistance to the less privileged who come into conflict with the law. The main programs in this department are:
1) Make the Poor People Access their Entitlements Program:
The program is aimed at regularly search and inform the less privileged people in Zambia about available opportunities for poverty reduction both in Zambia and outside Zambia, and support them in their efforts to access available opportunities
2) Legal Aid for the Poor People Programme:
The aim of this programme is to give legal assistance to poor people who come in conflict with the law but cannot afford private lawyers to defend them in courts of law.
3) Human Rights, Justice and Poor People Research:
The aim of this program is to consistently undertake scientific research on various issues surrounding human rights and justice among poor people in rural and urban Zambia, and use research findings to inform policy and practice on how to bring about a just Zambia where everyone enjoys their human rights.
4) Consultancy and Training:
We do consultancy work and training in human rights and justice related issues.
